The conceptual demands of a project is the meat and potatoes of an art director’s task. It is indeed more than simple illustration. This is often the first embryonic step from idea to substance or word to picture. It is the place of storyboards, sketches and mood defining renderings.

Chair Design

The result of a clever teen’s experiment to create the ultimate lounger for summer vacation. The prop fabricators stayed true to the sketch and included some of their own brilliant additions.

Ancient Vial

The director requested a hand-made Egyptian looking vial. I crafted the finished piece as well, which was sent to the mold shop for multiple copies.

Storyboard

The producers asked for a reality show logo. A simple storyboard illustrated how it might move. The effects house then elevated it to a new level.

Old school illustration of various sizes and purpose.
