In film and television, an art director’s task is to explore the visual environment in which a story takes place. From opulent sets to sweeping a mid-day desert floor, it is glamorously grimy work…The art director is also responsible for the department’s budget, timeline, acquisition of crew, and vendor relations.
What follows is an art director’s process on a Disney Movie of the Week. The script called for a large dwelling on a remote Polynesian island.
